Room

Lobby

Updated:

Hospital entrance area — player spawn, Ambulance Event arrival point, ambient NPCs (Lobby Bunny + Lobby Cat).

Overview

The Lobby is the hospital's entrance area — the first room every player sees on spawn and the arrival point for the Shift 4 Ambulance Event patient surges. The room is dominated by waiting seating (3 rows of 5 chairs on each side per Fandom location documentation), with a large 'Animal Hospital' sign and a white cross icon centred above the entrance. Three windows ring the space — two at the rear, one near the front door.

Ambient NPCs add lobby flavour: Lobby Bunny sits on a bench (see /wiki/npcs/lobby-bunny — per her dialogue, she used to be a Patient at the Animal Hospital), and Lobby Cat occupies the same space ambiently (see /wiki/npcs/lobby-cat). The Lobby itself doesn't host treatment procedures — patients enter, pass through to the Check-in Room, then route into the wings. But it's a high-stakes triage point during the Shift 4+ Ambulance Event when 6 patients arrive near-simultaneously and prioritisation decisions happen at the entrance per /wiki/events/ambulance-event.

Best Use vs Risks

Pros

  • Pre-shift orientation — players spawn here on shift start
  • Ambulance Event triage starting point (Shift 4+, recurring every 5 shifts)
  • Lore exploration via Lobby Bunny + Lobby Cat dialogue
  • Recognition anchor — if lobby NPCs are missing or behaving differently, anomaly-seeding signal

Cons

  • Ambulance Event 6-patient surge concentrates here simultaneously
  • No treatment equipment — patients must transit to wings for actual care
  • Fire spread from adjacent rooms can reach the lobby
  • News Bunny check-in TV broadcast at Shift 4 is the pre-event warning — easy to miss during busy shifts

Procedures Performed Here

Standard patient admission flows through the Lobby: patient enters from the entrance, walks through the seating area, queues at the Check-in Room. No treatment procedures happen here directly — the Lobby is the spatial bridge between the outside world and the hospital's operational areas.

During Ambulance Event surges starting Shift 4 (see /wiki/events/ambulance-event), the Lobby becomes the triage stage. Six patients arrive near-simultaneously and the player's first job is prioritisation: burning patients first (Fire Extinguisher one-shot), Critical Patient timer cases second, stable admissions last. The triage decisions happen in the Lobby before patients transition to the Check-in Room for individual processing.

Pre-event warning: News Bunny appears on the check-in TV broadcast specifically at Shift 4 (see /wiki/npcs/news-bunny) — that's the player's signal to position in the Lobby with Fire Extinguisher and Speed Cola ready for the incoming surge.

Lobby Bunny + Lobby Cat are ambient — no direct interaction mechanics required. They serve as recognition anchors for the lobby's normal state. If a lobby NPC is missing or behaving differently from baseline, that's a useful pre-shift anomaly-seeding signal worth flagging mentally.

Patch History

Lobby layout has been stable since the 2026-05-10 launch. The 3-row 5-chair seating arrangement, the 'Animal Hospital' sign, and the Lobby Bunny + Lobby Cat ambient NPCs are consistent across Fandom documentation through 2026-06-28.

Connected Rooms

Frequently Asked Questions

What rooms is the Lobby connected to?
Main Hospital (overview/routing layer) and Check-in Room. Patients enter via the Lobby, queue at Check-in, then route into the wings.
Who are the Lobby NPCs?
Lobby Bunny (sits on a bench, used to be a Patient per her dialogue — see /wiki/npcs/lobby-bunny) and Lobby Cat (ambient presence — see /wiki/npcs/lobby-cat). Both are recognition anchors for the lobby's normal state.
Where do Ambulance Event patients arrive?
The Lobby. Starting Shift 4, the 6-patient surge enters via the Lobby for triage before transitioning to Check-in. See /wiki/events/ambulance-event for the surge-handling workflow.
Can I treat patients in the Lobby?
No — the Lobby has no treatment equipment. Patients must transit to the Check-in Room and then to the wings for actual care.
What's the layout of the Lobby?
3 rows of 5 chairs on each side, large 'Animal Hospital' sign with white cross centred above the entrance, 3 windows (2 rear + 1 near front door), plant pots flanking the seating.
When does the Lobby first become accessible?
Shift 1 — the Lobby is the player's spawn environment from the opening shift. Available throughout the entire run.
Is the News Bunny TV broadcast in the Lobby?
The check-in TV is in the Check-in Room, but the broadcast is the pre-event warning for the Lobby-bound Ambulance Event surge at Shift 4 (see /wiki/npcs/news-bunny).
Does fire spread to the Lobby?
Yes — Fire in Room can spread from adjacent rooms to the Lobby. Patients in the Lobby may also faint from contact with a fire spread (see /wiki/events/patient-fainted).
