Check-in Room

Updated:

Player primary workspace — monitor wall, taser display, Coffee Machine, intake desk. Where photo + CCTV anomaly detection happens.

Overview

The Check-in Room is the player's primary operational workspace. Every patient intake passes through here, which means every anomaly-detection check (Photo Camera, CCTV monitor) also happens here. The room's defining feature is the monitor wall showing camera-status indicators (CAMS OFFLINE / ALL CAMS OPERATIONAL / outage count) — that's where the entire camera-only anomaly category (Censored Eyes, Unnatural Body, Staring at Camera, Void Body, Different Ears via CCTV cross-check, Disguised Shapeshifter on the lobby camera) gets detected per the Stage E.1 anomaly entries.

The room also doubles as the player's item-purchase station. The gray table holds telephones, sticky notes, a taser display case, and a Coffee Machine (180-second cooldown per /wiki/items/coffee). Chocolate Bars are available for 29 Robux (see /wiki/items/chocolate); Guns are available for 99 Robux (see /wiki/items/gun, 20-shot starter). After Shift 3, Supplies Shop unlocks expand the available items beyond the in-room baseline.

Layout & Features

  • Dark green carpeting with darker border
  • Monitor wall displaying camera status (CAMS OFFLINE / ALL CAMS OPERATIONAL / outage counter)
  • Gray table with telephones, sticky notes, taser display case
  • Coffee Machine: 1 machine + 3 mugs (180-second cooldown per /wiki/items/coffee)
  • Chocolate Bar purchase station (29 Robux per /wiki/items/chocolate)
  • Gun purchase station (99 Robux, 20-shot loadout per /wiki/items/gun)
  • Trash bin for waste disposal
  • Two storage boxes below the table

Best Use vs Risks

Pros

  • Photo intake check workflow — the primary detection site for photo-class anomalies (see /wiki/anomalies/cursed-photo + similar)
  • CCTV monitoring — exclusive detection site for camera-only anomalies
  • Coffee restoration on a 180-second cooldown for mid-shift sanity recovery
  • Pre-shift item purchase (Chocolate, Gun, Taser from displays)

Cons

  • Camera Figure spawns on broken cameras — see /wiki/enemies/camera-figure for the screech audio + zoom jumpscare
  • Photo anomalies (Cursed Photo costs 10 sanity per view + additional during active processing) are detection-mandatory but expensive
  • Skinwalker disguise detection happens via lobby camera here — miss it and the Skinwalker activates on the hospital floor (see /wiki/enemies/skinwalker)
  • Head Banger specifically targets the second check-in window after Extra Check-In Window upgrade (see /wiki/enemies/head-banger + /wiki/shop-upgrades/extra-check-in-window)

Patient Check-in + Anomaly Detection

Procedures Performed Here

Every patient passes through the Check-in Room for intake processing. The standard workflow: patient queues at the check-in window, player runs the diagnostic checks (Photo Camera + CCTV cross-check), decides admit-or-reject, then either routes the patient to a treatment wing or rejects via the Shutters button.

Photo Camera workflow: take the photo of the queued patient, compare against the live monitor view, look for photo-class anomaly tells (missing pupils, distorted smile, bloodshot eyes, static, species mismatch, etc.). Each photo view costs 10 sanity per /wiki/items/photo-camera. Confirm and reject within 1-2 seconds for Cursed Photo specifically to limit the additional active-processing sanity cost.

CCTV workflow: open the security monitor on the wall, scan all queued patients for camera-only anomaly tells. Lobby camera specifically provides the best side view for Disguised Shapeshifter detection per /wiki/anomalies/skinwalker (the admit-phase Skinwalker entry). Body distortion, orientation cues, full-body void renders, ear mismatches, censored faces all surface here exclusively.

Intake-window decisions: accept = patient routes to wings for treatment; reject (Shutters) = patient leaves, no further interaction. Admitted anomalies transform into Skinwalkers on the hospital floor — that's why the intake checks matter.

Item purchases happen at the table. The Coffee Machine produces cups with a 180-second cooldown for mid-shift sanity recovery. The Chocolate Bar station + Gun station are Robux-gated purchases that persist across the run once unlocked.

Post-Shift 3, the Supplies Shop opens (see /wiki/npcs/shopkeeper-nurse) and expands the available items beyond the Check-in Room's baseline. The Extra Check-In Window shop upgrade (see /wiki/shop-upgrades/extra-check-in-window) opens a second admission slot — but this also opens the Head Banger spawn location per /wiki/enemies/head-banger.

Patch History

Check-in Room layout has been stable since the 2026-05-10 launch. The CCTV system, Photo Camera workflow, and Coffee Machine 180-second cooldown have been consistent across documented updates through 2026-06-28. The Extra Check-In Window upgrade (introduced separately, see shop-upgrades) extended the room's intake capacity but didn't change the room's core layout.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do photo-class anomalies get detected?
The Check-in Room — Photo Camera is the only detection channel for photo-class anomalies (Cursed Photo, Static Photo, Incorrect Photo, Different Eyes, Different Ears, Unnatural Photo). See /wiki/items/photo-camera for the workflow.
Where does the CCTV monitor live?
The Check-in Room — the monitor wall displays camera-status indicators and is the exclusive detection channel for camera-only anomalies (Censored Eyes, Unnatural Body, Staring at Camera, Void Body, Disguised Shapeshifter on the lobby camera).
What items can I buy in the Check-in Room?
Coffee from the Coffee Machine (free, 180-second cooldown), Chocolate Bar (29 Robux), Gun (99 Robux, 20-shot loadout). The Taser is displayed in a case on the table — the Reception Office display box is the free pickup point starting Shift 3.
Does Head Banger appear in the Check-in Room?
Yes — specifically at the second check-in window if you've purchased the Extra Check-In Window shop upgrade. See /wiki/enemies/head-banger for the Coffee bribe counter.
What does Camera Figure look like on the CCTV?
A dark cat-like silhouette with red dotted eyes and bared teeth. Spawns specifically on broken cameras. Switch feeds or repair the camera to avoid the screech + zoom jumpscare per /wiki/enemies/camera-figure.
How much sanity does a Photo Camera check cost?
10 sanity per photo view per Fandom. Cursed Photo specifically adds additional cost during active processing — confirm and reject within 1-2 seconds to limit the compound cost.
When does the Check-in Room first become accessible?
Shift 1 — the room is the player's spawn-and-operate workspace from the opening shift. CCTV / shutters features unlock progressively from Shift 2.
Which class spends the most time in the Check-in Room?
Secretary — per-check-in sanity income (+1) makes lobby-focused playstyles optimal here. Combined with Extra Check-In Window upgrade for doubled intake throughput, Secretary is the strongest Check-in Room class.
