Ghost Anomaly Update — a new anomaly enters the roster

Updated:

The June 26 2026 Ghost update added a new anomaly — the Ghost — to Animal Hospital, the first roster addition since the original launch wave and the highest-profile content drop of the month.

The headline

On June 26, 2026, Animal Anomaly shipped a Ghost anomaly into Animal Hospital. It is the first new entity added to the active anomaly pool since the original launch in May, and it is the update the wider Roblox-horror creator scene was watching for. Within hours of the patch going live, encounter clips were the dominant content on the game's TikTok and YouTube hashtags.

The Ghost is the only new anomaly in this update. The rest of the patch was tuning around it — spawn pacing, ambient audio cues for shifts where the Ghost is active, and a small handful of fixes to the class abilities most affected by a non-corporeal target.

How the Ghost behaves

We are still gathering verified behaviour data for the wiki — the entity's full detail page is being prepared and will live at /wiki/anomalies/ghost/ once we've cross-checked everything from independent runs. What follows is what has been observable across the first 72 hours of community footage; expect this to firm up over the next week.

  • It is not a visual-mismatch anomaly. The Ghost does not present as an off-looking patient. It appears as a separate entity, frequently away from the check-in window and the treatment rooms.
  • It does not stay still. Unlike most existing anomalies, the Ghost moves between rooms during a shift. Players have observed it in the hallway, the lobby, and around the supply room.
  • It affects sanity over time. Sustained line-of-sight appears to bleed sanity at a rate independent of distance, which is a different damage profile from any pre-Ghost anomaly.
  • Standard item counters do not appear to apply. Tools that work on physical anomalies — the fire extinguisher on a Skinwalker, maple syrup on the Bed Monster — have not been seen ending Ghost encounters in any clip we've reviewed.

We will not be writing a counter strategy section here until that question has been answered across multiple independent runs. Guessing wrong on a counter is the worst kind of wiki mistake.

What the patch changed alongside the Ghost

  • Ambient audio. A new low-frequency hum cue plays in rooms where the Ghost is currently active. This is the closest the game gets to giving the player a "you are not alone" warning, and it's a softer cue than the existing skinwalker audio sting.
  • Spawn pacing on Ghost-active shifts. Shifts where the Ghost is in the rotation drop the standard anomaly spawn rate slightly — the studio appears to have decided the Ghost counts as its own pressure source and adjusted accordingly.
  • Class ability tuning. Two of the classes from the class overhaul had small follow-up adjustments because their abilities targeted physical patients in ways that did not interact correctly with a non-corporeal target.

What this means for the meta

The Ghost is the first anomaly in Animal Hospital that does not fit the "examine the patient at the window, decide if it's a fake" loop the game was built on. Every existing strategy assumes the anomaly is a patient or is in a fixed room. The Ghost breaks both assumptions, and the early community guides we've seen are already splitting their advice into "Ghost-active shifts" and "everything else."

Our anomaly tier list was last updated before the Ghost landed; expect a re-rank within the week as enough footage accumulates to slot it correctly.

Does this update come with a code?

No. The studio did not attach a code to the Ghost update. This is consistent with the broader state of the game — there is still no code redemption UI in Animal Hospital, and no anomaly or class drop has shipped with one. See /codes/ for the live status on that question.
